Tips on choosing the right saree for your body type

Saree is the most elegant dress for Indian women. Choosing the right saree and draping it in the right manner are the key factors that can work wonders in making you look gorgeous.

Choosing the right Fabric
Each and every fabric has certain characteristics, which play a key role in the saree so it is vital to select the right fabric. Fabrics like Georgette, Chiffon, Crepe and Net cling to your body and give you a much slimmer look. So if you want to flaunt your body, wear these. Brocade, Kanjeevaram, Silk, Organza, Tissue and Cotton on the other hand, add volume to your body and are best suited for the tall and slim body types.

Color Effect
Darker shades or dark monochromatic color sarees make you look slimmer and give you a fairer look. Lighter shades make your body curves more prominent and are a great choice if you want to flaunt your body. Black is the color preferred by most designers for gorgeous and slimmer look at any event.

Print Illusion
If you are tall, large prints will look amazing on you and vice versa. If you are thin, heavy prints or motifs can give you more volume. If you are short, vertical or smaller prints can give the illusion of height.

Border Size
Wider borders with heavy work makes you look shorter so they are better suited for tall women. Slimmer saree borders with fine work can make you look taller.

No matter what draping style you use, you need to do it neatly and cover the not so perfect areas of your body to get a smart look. Pinning up the saree pallu gives you a trimmer look while an open pallu allows you to hide the extra pounds. If you are overweight, drape the saree around you tightly so that it does not add to the circumference and vice versa. Showing some skin between the blouse and the saree helps in creating the illusion of more height.

That’s all the tips I have. If you have any additional tips, please leave a comment we would love to hear from you.
